LOCAL CHESS TOURNAMENTS
Throughout the school year there are many FREE(!) tournaments scheduled for school age players. Go to www.chesstrm.org for details and how to register. And call Brother John McManus at 212 729-7060 (c) or e-mail at mtrmcf@hotmail.com for any info about scholastic tournaments, clubs and leagues. He wants to hear from you!
Local chess tournaments for players of all ages are less frequent. Most are organized by the Continental Chess Association and you can find all of their information on their website at www.chesstour.com.
When other events are being organized locally, we will announce them right here!
LOCAL CHESS CLUBS
There are also many local chess clubs that are open to players of all ages. During the fall and winter months, the clubs are very active with their in-house championships. In the spring there are the inter-club matches of the Capital District Chess League.
Use our "Clubs" page for all contact and meeting info. Want to just drop in to check out the club? It is always a good idea to call ahead and confirm this week's meeting.
During the summer months, the major local chess activity is held on Friday afternoons at the Proctor's theater in Schenectady. We will provide more details once we approach the summer. Otherwise there are no scholastic tournaments and clubs are less active. Make sure to call ahead to see what the local clubs will be doing that week.

Phil provided first hand reports in 2009 and 2010 and is adding new blogs in January 2011. Click on http://enyca.blogspot.com/search/label/Corus.
And watch for our "Chess Tent" as part of the annual Tulip Festival in Albany on Mother's Day weekend in May. Free, casual, and a lot of fun. Rain or shine.
