A Well Handled Queen Dominates

Michael Mockler seeks out interesting positions. He is determined not to play boring chess. This can bring about positions many of us shy away from. At the recent RPI – Geezers match I was playing at the table next to him. Busy with my own problems, only occasionally did I look over at Michael’s game. One such glance was the position after Black’s 10th move. My first thought was he would have a hard row to hoe to get something out of that position. The next time I looked, around move 42, the White King was wandering forlorn on the Q-side looking for sanctuary, and the White K-side pawns had disappeared. How had that come about?
